Overview
After a short wait on the list at GT Distributors in Rossville, GA, I finally acquired my Glock 42 w/ Trijicon Night Sights. I purchased it at the blue label pricing of $319 plus tax. I've seen a couple of short video reviews (Hickok45's being the most noteworthy) but I wanted to see how well the 42 did in a comprehensive 2000 round endurance test.

The Glock 42 addresses quite a few of the negatives associated with carrying and/or shooting the other common .380 pocket pistols. First, the felt recoil is much less than any other .380 that I have ever spent time with. The dual recoil assembly in the 42 is going to allow people to actually enjoy shooting the .380 platform. Next, the trigger is typical Glock. The reset is still short and crisp. Overall, Glock has another winner.

Test Results
We shot (2) sessions of (500) rounds, took a lunch break and then (2) more sessions of (500). We did not break down the gun, nor clean it during the entire 2000 rounds of testing. Amazingly enough, the Glock 42 nor the Atlanta Arms ammo caused any failures to fire, feed or eject except one light primer strike at around the 1700 round mark. Overall, I am impressed.

Supporters and Helpers
First and foremost, Danny, the owner of Atlanta Arms donated (2000) rounds of their 95 grain TCJ for the testing and Monte Sanders of Protective Measures in Dalton, GA allowed us the testing grounds. Thanks to both of these guys for their generosity and aid in testing. I would also like to thank the 6 additional team members that helped load mags and shoot for approximately 3 hours. Without all of the supporters and helpers, this test would have been extremely taxing and time consuming.

Thanks to: Joab, Peacekeeper, Mrs. Peacekeeper, Ryno67, Protective Measures and Alex for the help with loading and shooting.

Video
"Peacekeeper" obtained approximately 4 hours of video so it will take a few days to chop and merge all the clips from the different cameras into a video that doesn't wear out the average adult attention span. I will update the thread as soon as the video is finished.

Pictures
Let's look at a couple of pictures of the Glock 42 in question below. The first pic shows the weight at 15.8oz, loaded with 6+1 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense. The other remaining pictures show the side profile as well as the front and rear Trijicon sights.

I am interested in hearing your take on the Glock 42 whether it be from experience or hearsay. Of course, experience trumps. :)

What don't you like about the gun?

Good question. The only issue that I see that may be semi-problematic is for those with very large hands. The slide lock is easier to bump with your primary hand than other larger framed Glocks, causing the slide to lock back during live fire. That's not ammo or gun related so it's not really a problem that I assume will be common. Overall, I am extremely impressed in the Glock 42.

Sounds good so far with taht many rounds and only the one light strike , may have to look into picking one of these up and ditching the LCP

I've spent a good amount of time with numerous .380 pocket pistols and I can tell you that Glock definitely hit a home run here. It's weird to say that I actually enjoyed shooting the +/-500 rounds that I fired during the test.

no mags of hollow points run through it? i seem to remember on Hickock45's vid he had a fte or ftf with hollow points somewhere. i may be wrong on that account though. as i tend to be wrong alot (just ask the gf lol)

i been looking at guns for the gf, and at blue label its mighty tempting.

I'm assuming the light primer strike was a fail to fire so do you suspect it was an ammo/primer problem due to the reload cartridges? Thanks for the comprehensive test!

Yeah. Monte and I agreed that it must have been a hard primer. We re-fired that particular round at the end of the test and it performed as it should have.
