But seriously, how can you tell? If it was bare metal it would be much more silver and glaring. That's surface scratching and won't in any way damage or malign the finish of the pistol.

Thank you for the info! It seemed to be pretty silver but I guess it would be a lot more noticeable if it were bare metal.
That will buff out!
When you scratch a textured finish, it flattens the finish, making it more smooth...which causes it to reflect more light....making it brighter than the surrounding area where the finish is still textured.
If the finish were gone altogether, it would be significantly brighter.
there's layers to finishes. If it were bare it'd be way more reflective
Really? I’ve heard of people using 0000 wool but I felt like that would scratch it more. This isn’t my area of expertise! Haha
Not my expertise either but seriously, those wear marks don’t look deep from here.
