If you are able
save for them a place
inside of you
and save one backward glance
when you are leaving
for the places they can
no longer go.
Be not ashamed to say
you loved them,
though you may
or may not have always.
Take what they have left
and what they have taught you
with their dying
and keep it with your own.
And in that time
when men decide and feel safe
to call the war insane,
take one moment to embrace
those gentile heroes
you left behind.

That is some deep stuff.
Vietnam was definitely a war from hell. It really left some scars on a good number of people, scars in the mind sometimes are worse than scars on the body too. I know they are both bad, you just can’t distinguish which is worse.
GOD bless all those that had to endure that Hell on earth.

The “X” part got me….once a Marine, ALWAYS a Marine….there are no X Marines…the video is heart wrenching none the less….
It always annoys me when I see a former soldier referred to as "ex-military" or "ex-insert-Armed Forces-branch-here." It strikes me as tacky and kinda disrespectful.

Also, thank you for your service.
