^buy one of his guns. I have never gotten along better with any gun than an 1100. The Beretta is a smoother action but you will NEVER meet a gun that shakes your hand in a gentlemanly way on a dove field than an 1100. Classy, easy on the shoulder, patterns well. I’ll never forget the unmistakeable “cha-chang” of the bolt cycling felt on my shoulder while watching a grey rocket crumple just beyond the front bead. Writing this makes me feel bad I don’t shoot it more often. Maybe the teary-eyed nostalgia of granddaddy’s gun (the only scattergun he ever felt he needed to own) clouds my judgement. Maybe I have nicer, prettier guns, but if I had to choose only one....
