Good hiking/campng trails in Georgia.

Its not Georgia but The Pinhoti in east Alabama is nice. Some challenging areas. Some very easy walks. Lots of topo maps online of the trail to download to a gps but the trail is easy to follow.

The wife, kids, dog and myself day hike this trail all season.
Me and the dog overnight on the trail when we want to.

If you have any questions ask me or google "pinhoti trail"

I like Yellow River park over near Stone Mountain and Harbins park in Dacula.

Harbins has 1 mile paved loop with a 5 mile unpaved loop that goes by a stream with some nice views. The trail is pretty well blazed and easy to follow

Yellow River on the other hand has several trails that aren't that well marked and cross over each other a lot. The plus side here is that I end up doing something completely different every
time I go.

I don't think you can camp at either spot though

We just got home from over nighter at PMT about 7miles Wolfden loop, it is rocky & up & down hills...Water at several campsites..We hiked in last nite with water to Camp Sassafras(no water) then got up hiked to Sawmill (plenty water) ate then another couple miles back to car. Good scenery & small falls..

You're pretty much driving to Blue Ridge, Blairsville, or darn near Clayton if you want to find a good wilderness hiking area worth visiting. Everything down here is pretty well covered in pines. Pick up the National Geographic maps from REI, The Fish Hawk, or someplace similar. Great maps with all of the trails clearly marked. As stated above, Cohutta has several excellent areas.
