I never see coyotes around my house but I hear them at night often. Basically, anyone and everyone is going to shoot them on sight. They’re smart so they just stay out of sight. Probably much more emboldened in suburban areas.

Probably not the right place to ask this but...where are they coming from? When I was younger coyotes were an "out west" thing. I'd never seen, much less heard, one. It wasn't until I went out went out to Utah that I experienced them. Now, just some thirty or so years later they are in Metro ATL? How does that happen? Lack of predation and migration?

Another man made problem. They were able to migrate here because we killed off all of their natural predators. Mainly the Red Wolf.

Armadillos were never a thing in Atlanta either, used to only see them in FL but now they're all over.

But the biggest take away from this thread is to watch out for otters when you're drunk and vulnerable on the river.
