Wonder how this is going to play out? Blue hats coming to turn water back on? Interesting times indeed....

Three U.N. experts responded Wednesday that the shutoffs could constitute a violation of the human right to water.

"Disconnections due to non-payment are only permissible if it can be shown that the resident is able to pay but is not paying," human right to water and sanitation expert Catarina de Albuquerque said in a statement issued from the United Nations in Geneva. "In other words, when there is genuine inability to pay, human rights simply forbids disconnections."

Rush and Hannity have been talking about this lately. Basically the UN's (worthless) stance is that those that can pay for it must, but those who can't must not be denied service. How does one define 'can't'? Ambition-challenged, limited skillset, low salary...?

But there is no requirement to provide water in their houses. Free water at tent city - where you will be sent through metal detector to prevent violence.

Good point there... they do still have access to water at any public building. It's just not as convenient for them.

Personally, pay your bill or GTFO. We almost need something along the lines of a debtor's prison, as counter intutive as that is. Maybe they could be organized and do community service- like trash collection and general maintenance until their debts are settled.

The water fountains at the Federal Courthouse in Atlanta are cut off because there is sediment in the pipes, and it is not safe to drink. I say bring in the blue hats. Hmmm

She can afford soda and Big Macs but need the UN for water?
