growth in my safe?

I have this growth in my safe i can’t seem to keep gone, all it requires is a little cleaning but it keeps coming back.

I have 1 dehumidifying rod and just installed a second today. it only grows on wood or leather, the metal looks great on all the guns.

do y’all have any ideas?

Definitely from moisture. I have had it a time or two when it was high humidity for an extended time. I just clean regularly. I also have a rod in mine

I have a rod in my safe as well but still get some growth. Especially on slings.

Mini dehumidifier I have 2 in each safe in the summer and to recharge them ever couple of days

Throw a couple of those silica packets in there, should help absorb some of that moisture.

Separate the stock from the metal when you treat it. If it’s where you’re able to see it, it’s a safe bet it’s in areas you can’t.

Another option if you don’t want to use diesel is a white vinegar solution or peroxide. Be careful not to hurt the finish though.
