Guess how this happened, Graphic

I can relate to that, a few years ago I got some frozen hamburger patties out of the freezer to cook on the grill, -they had frozen together so I got my chef knife out to pry them apart and holding the patties in my left hand proceeded to insert knife, went thru the patties and into the meat below my little finger, went to the ER, sent me to a hand surgeon, he wanted to operate because the nerve was cut, when he said he would have to lay my arm open from hand to elbow because the nerve had retracted like a guitar string, I said Hell No! I can live without feeling on the inside part of my little finger and my ring finger. been about 30 years and I haven't missed the feeling at all. Glad I don't have a 13" scar on my arm! I always use a cutting board now if I need to separate frozen meat!
Wax paper.

OK, here's the scoop, have a triangle shaped gun vise, aluminum & light, several years ago while working at DOD Contractor metal shop had exact shape burned out of 1" thick plate on plasma table. Bolted the vise to plate, it also had a cut out in rear end at center to allow for 30 round mags. This was built with intention to use on cement tables at gun club to sight in at longer ranges, the heavy assed 85-100 lb steel plate was to keep the aluminum vice from moving around upon recoil, which it did like a champ, like the heavy assed champ nonetheless.
Years later it sat lonely in back yard at short sight in range and then I decided to sight in a Rife, (enter here Moison) to the 25 meter distance. Lazily instead of dragging out my trusty folding metal table, I pulled over an empty drum and lifted the vice/plate to top of drum. Target in place and sitting behi8nd drum, Rifle locked in vice, adjusted the sprocket like elevatio9n devi8ce on which I had added a heavy 1 1"2 spring to aid in elevating.
Then pulled the bang switch, Rifle fired slight recoil made drum shift, plate sat solid till drum shifted then took a dive to the left side toward hard ground with loaded Rifle locked in, and allowed muzzle to dance around small berm. Afra9d of catching it by trigger and sending one into neighbors properties, tried to catch vice, unfortunately at sprocket & spring end and nonce it was gently allowed to touch down, muzzle pointed at ground, I noticed the finger. At that moment exactly what happened was unknown, only to get to ER ASAP. Wife drove me and I couldn't tell them exactly what happened. When got back home went out to gather gear and survey situation and found finger meat on end of plate at sprocket/spring area. That end with me pushing downwards on muzzle hot first and caught finger under its 100 lbs falling 4 ft and loope3d of the end of the booger hook under it, meat still there under sharp cornered end of plate.
Moral of story, always use steady prop when balancing a 100 lb plate on it and having Moison recoil involved.
also 1" thick x 16" Long carbon steel plate with 30 round mag cutout for sale/trade, vise not included, but can be bought at wally world.
Hopefully enough of 2nd joint left to still be a one handed shooter around barricades, ambedexterious with a Pistol, Pic of $50 vice below, not about to go out in 24 degrees to get pic of plate but if interested, will later on, just PM me, I'll remove all blood and meat. I'll do a giveaway for all the efforts, jabs, self inflicted stories, etc, soon to celebrate my 200th positive point status.

Dang it man. Hope you heal up well! My guess was pretty close though.

That was brutal. Looking at the plate and vice, I just couldn't see that coming. You have proven it to be definitely possible.

This is Exactly what I said in my first post. Apparently nobody reads anymore

similar to language used, but mine was rather throaty, loud and much less social media friendly since it involved a sex act.
Aaaaaand..........for those so inclined, the next challenge is, what exactly did RiverBend RiverBend say when the aforementioned incident occurred??
My guess is.." **** that *********** ***** of a vise". :becky:.

By the way RB - sorry for your loss and best wishes for a speedy recovery - never know, may solve that low right POI you might have with your weak hand :p.
