Gun horror stories! Post yours...

Old surplus 8mm ammo fired from a semi-auto FN-49 once made my nose, cheek, chin and ear bleed pretty bad. I was shooting left-handed so it got me in the face. May have been an out-of-battery discharge….we’ll never know for sure. The cases looked just like the picture below….had to extract one that was stuck in the chamber.

Thank God for good shooting goggles

Sold a guy a box of 38spl hp ammo in the early 90’s. I looked at his ID (required by my employer) took his cash , made change and put the bullets and receipt in a bag. Guy thanked me and left. He drove to the other side of town to a man whose wife he had been “enjoying”. My customer put two fatal rounds in buddy then one in himself under the chin. The police chief (friend of mine) came and asked me if the guy had bought ammo from us lately, I told him yes earlier that day. He came back and told me later buddy’s revolver had 3 spent cases and 3 hot ones in the cylinder. The bag, the receipt and the box of ammo, less 6, were in buddy’s car.
You just never know…….

I traded a rifle for a Bulgarian ak74. Gun looked great but when I went to the range it wouldn’t cycle a mag of ammo. Tried everything I could think of then took it to a gunsmith. Found the ejector was filed too short. Attempted to repair without success. Had to send to an ak builder. They confirmed the issue. Had them rebuild it with a new receiver

This one time at an indoor range, I was on the outside where there is a table attached to the wall for you to sit or set up (eye pro & ear pro) before you go in. The table happens directly behind the rear side of the range where people reload ammo or put their gear. I just happen to be standing in front of a women who happened to cleared her gun facing me. Anyone who ever been to a range or with common sense should know that you should never brake the 180 or have a gun (not in a bag or case) behind the yellow or red line. I confronted her about it when she walked out and of course she played dumb. I am glad I did not get shot that day.

How much did that cost?
