I didn't read all the posts, but I will say its is for life. I fired a compensated 6.8spc from a covered deer stand at least on 10-27-2012, at about 8:45a.m. and all the sound reflected off the overhanging top and into my left ear. It has not stopped ringing since. Sometimes a little louder than others, but never ceasing. I just learned to ignore it.
