And these comments weren't worthwhile?

what would be the benefit of that?

What would the point be? Might as well walk around with your wang out. Don't make sensible gun owners look like knuckle dragging idiots that promote corporate greed.

So you want to incite people that are already hyped up on stupidity. Doesn't sound to smart to me.
You don't carry a weapon to intimidate people, unless you are an idiot.
Why not just go do your pamphlet plan, without the open carry?
Heck, with that bunch, I wouldn't even be worried about needing to carry anything, except maybe some Axe body spray just so I could stand to get near them!

What do gun rights have to do with hippies protesting wall street?

There are a lot of second amendment supporting folks that are part of the Occupy movement. This isn't an us vs. them contest.

I don't see any good that could come from this. Especially for the firearms community. Not everyone there is a bleeding-heart liberal, but MANY are so it would just add fuel to the fire. Add in the violent protestors, a redneck with a bad temper and itchy trigger finger, police and you have a situation that could get out of hand quickly.

If anyone does go down there OC-ing and stirs up trouble I will be f-ing pissed and so will the rest of the firearms community. Either you OC on your best behavior or you stay home. Don't make the rest of us look bad just so that you can feel like a badass.

i think it would be like carrying a can of gas to a fire.

you would only put yourself in a position to allow these radical leftists and anarchists to back you into a corner and force you to use your weapon or not. then what will you do?. there will be no good outcome for you or our side of things from this action.

I don't think there would be any net benefit from doing it. On the same note, there will be no net benefit from the Occupiers doing what they are doing either. They seem to be pissing off a lot of decent people by doing what they are doing. I think it would be fun to piss them off with our responsibility, niceness and respect for the US Constitution (All of it).

Why are so many people willing to push their First Amendment rights on other people but not very many people are willing to assert their Second Amendment rights?

I assert my Second Amendment and my First Amendment rights every day. I don't see the need to do it in a fashion that is making people mock these "protesters" though. If I have reason to use my rights to defend my rights, then I will. Right now, an occasional call, letter, or talk with my representatives seems to be just fine for me.

Most of the comments posted are worthwhile. There is one poster who is PRO occupiers who is not posting "worthwhile" posts.

SCAND... I think you misunderstood me.

I was trying to make a distinction between posts made by HGuNHNTR and HGUN17.

There was never a law prohibiting carrying at a political rally. The state law prohibiting carrying weapons to a "Public Gathering" and dated back to 1870 and was created because of the 1868 Camilla Massacre. Look it up... Read about it at the link below. There was a massacre of Black State Assemblymen and their White Republican supporters by the Sheriff of Mitchell County and Democrats who had kicked all the Black assemblymen out of the state assembly.

The public gathering prohibition... the bloody legacy of the Camilla massacre/

The old law was removed from the books a while back. While political rally's are not off limits, you still can't carry to govt buildings or polling places, churches etc..

Don't be stupid.

Open carry is STUPID.

You have a shall issue state, go get your permit. If you don't like the permit system then YOU need to lobby your state reps to push for a Vermont/Arizona style law for CC.

The only down side with that is you loose your out of state reciprocity.

Let me make this ever so clear - when you open carry you make yourself a target - for bad guys, liberals, police - everyone. I don't care about your stupid "its my right" arguements, it may well be but that still does not negate the fact that EVERYONE knows you have a GUN on, and can see WHAT you have, WHERE you have it and HOW you are carrying it/securing it. You on the other hand DON'T know what everyone else is carrying! You have automatically given up your BIGGEST advantage to being ARMED by showing that hand.

On top of that, many if not nearly every time I see someone open carrying, they have their 500+ dollar gun in a f#$king 10 dollar POS uncle mikes nylon junk holster. I could rip it off your belt in one swoop before you even realised what the hell was happening. PURE STUPIDITY.
