GWL Holders Open Carry Their Guns To The OCCUPY ATLANTA Event?

What would be the outcome if a Georgia Weapons Licensee or group of Licensees showed up at the Occupy Atlanta event with their pistols on their sides and their Semi-Automatic Rifles slung over their shoulders...

As far as I know, there is nothing illegal about it. We could go from Protester to Protester and talk to them, hear their stupidity, hand out Herman Cain or Ron Paul pamphlets, and such.

It would have to be organized so that we make sure each person knows what is legal and what is not legal. Each participant would have to show his/her Georgia Weapons license before entering the area.

What do you think? If they can get together and express their First Amendment Rights, then I think we can also get together and express our Second Amendment Rights at the same Venue.

The Law that prohibits a GWL person from carrying guns in Public Gatherings has been revoked so I see no legal challenge to something like this.

I guess there is no legal reason to have or show your GWL before taking a walk in the park. If the event is organized in any manner it might be a good way to show that you know the law and intend to act responsibly.

You don't carry a weapon to intimidate people, unless you are an idiot.
Why not just go do your pamphlet plan, without the open carry?
Heck, with that bunch, I wouldn't even be worried about needing to carry anything, except maybe some Axe body spray just so I could stand to get near them!

I actually was about to start a thread for the same thing. We have every right to open carry down there just like they have every right to protest. If I knew that all the people OC-ing were doing so responsibly (ie- being super friendly and on their best behavior and NOT just trying to act like macho badasses and intimidate the hippies) then I would certainly join them. However the possibility for something negative happening is too great for that to be a good idea.

There wouldn't be one except it would really piss off the hippies and that would amuse me. But in the grand scheme of things, youre right there wouldn't be any real benefit. If stronger gun control was part of their message then I would be all for it but right now they just want to piss and moan about "evil corporations" so Im just going to let them keep making fools of themselves.

I don't think there would be any net benefit from doing it. On the same note, there will be no net benefit from the Occupiers doing what they are doing either. They seem to be pissing off a lot of decent people by doing what they are doing. I think it would be fun to piss them off with our responsibility, niceness and respect for the US Constitution (All of it).

Why are so many people willing to push their First Amendment rights on other people but not very many people are willing to assert their Second Amendment rights?
