H&R (Harrington & Richardson) Model 929

Hey Folks,
I have a H&R .22 model 929 (2-1/2 barrel version) that has a serial# prefix of "AH". From my research, it looks like it was produced in 1971.
Here's my question:
In the serial# to-mfg date cross reference information that I have found, there is a footnote that says "Snap on fore cap".
1971 is the only year of mfg that has this notation. I can't find any pictures of what this note refers to.
Anyone know what this is all about?

I can not find anything yet. AH 1971 bit never explains what the Snap... Is all about.
