They are playing b/s hardball. Tell that bank that you know Federal Regulation E states that the bank must provide provisional credit within 10 days of your notifying them of the disputed transaction(s). They may ask you to provide a written request. Do so...a signed & dated letter stating you didnt make the transactions (include date and amount) will work, or they may have their own form to fill out.. The bank is under burden of proof to provide evidence that you either made the transactions or did not-and banks dont have the time or money to prove anything. You (all of us) are federally protected by Reg E...not the bank. They have to try to recover the funds via chargbacks that take place through the Card Network provider ie. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AMex. If they do not recover the money they eat it. This is one of my areas of responsibility. Any questions, let me know.
I just read Federal Regulation E and that is way over my head hahahaha. But I guess this basically means I can go to my bank tell them they have to credit my money back now and its basically up to them to either retrieve the funds or they have to come out of pocket?
