OK, maybe I'm the only one with this issue, but I suspect not, so just in case this helps anyone....
I've got a 10/22 (metal trigger group, no extended release) with a Hogue stock. Love the gun love the stock. I can't remember if I had the same issue with the OEM wood stock but it's a female dog to get the mag out and I bust my thumb knuckle religiously (and then utter very UNreligious things). I finally had enough and thought "this just isn't that hard". A little fine grit sandpaper on the side of mag didn't do what was I hoping, but what DID do the trick after that was a little dry graphite rubbed on the side. Now she drops out the way God and Misters Strum and Ruger intended! :afro:

I took some sandpaper to the side of my mags. It doesn't look that great, but it didn't take much, and it made a world of difference.

Mine was like yours, the mags wouldn't release for nothing! For something so simple to do, it was a real PITA.

I didn't have much problem sanding, it just didn't get as easy as I wanted. The graphite makes it literally fall out. :thumb:

It's the molded stock . I had the same problem with my Houge over mold . Took a little off the mag area with my dremel & worked fine .
Yeah I was trying to think back before I put that stock on and since I've had the gun since I was a teenager I'm sure I'd have remembered it if that had been a problem then (I don't).
I still like the Hogue though. :)
