Harley Davidson Gripe

Did she have the turbo??
Negative….just the CX500 with fairing. Shaft drive, water cooled. That was her 3rd bike. First was the old Yamaha 200 - purple and white. Then the Honda 350-4 .
My first (street bike) was the hand me down Honda 450 from my brother. Then i moved up to the 750-4 Honda !! Fast bike ! Then to a KZ1000 Kawisuki !! Those were fast too .

You were either way in front of me or behind me on all those trips because I didn't see that many down, and the ones I seen were at stop lights and at gas pumps falling over! To drunk or to stoned to remember to put their foot down ....
during the Olympics' I road my B-I-L's 74 Kaw, due to parking was 25 dollars a day and would not leave my Harley alone anywhere in ATL....
the kaw you could leave it anywhere with new tire's, full tank and a mcrib on the tank and it would be there at quitting time...........fun fact every time he rode with me, I had to help push it off most times' when we stopped...
(I'm shure I had to have been a sight doing that!)
back to the story I fixed the kaw to be able to ride it and my first day on my way home I found out what a high-speed wobble was, and it was unnerving to say the least. he called me when I got in and told me about the death wobble !? yeah no sh*t i replied..............
I had always wondered why he never went over the F-n speed limit when he rode with me!
I still own that FXR
I will admit, when the old Kaw went into a wobble at 125 mph it was definitely white-knuckle, hold-your-breath time.... mine only did that once, but it was an attention grabber.
Had to sell it after I blew out a lumbar disc putting it up on its poorly placed center stand.
I still miss that ol' '73.

My Triumph story is at 15, in Ft. Lauderdale, my neighbor let me ride his Bonneville with the 750 kit on it. Scared me to death. Everyone has their bike, mine was HD. Bought my first one in 1972, went through it all until a few years ago, sold my last one, 2014 Ultra Limited to an ODT'er. Hope he is still riding.

Love them all. That 350, 750-4 and KZ 1000 were great bikes. Had a friend that had one of those Kawi 3cyl, 2 stroke 500s. I started with a CB 175. My uncle had a SL 175, loved that bike. My brother in law had a SL 350 bored and stroked to a 400. I almost cryed when I found out he sold that one. I wanted it bad. Then a Kawi 2 stroke 100, CB 500-4. That bike was sweet. Then a CB 900F. To my now bike a Kawi KLR 650. I've had that bike 20yrs. My Dad has a full dresser HD. I think a 2003 model. I think Super Glide Classic. Maybe I'll get that one some day

My KLR does that wobble. Found if you drop the air pressure in the front tire, it doesn't do it anymore

I went to my local HD dealer, Falcons Fury in Conyers. They are some SHADY folks, to put it politely. I was asking the price on a couple of their used bikes, and wouldn't be given a straight answer. It was "mid teens" or "low 20's" instead of an actual price. Has anyone had another experience like this with HD? I assume they want to run my credit, and find out my financial situation before naming a price in case they can mark it up on me. I was planning to just pay cash, but I'm not just going to hand them my wallet. After the third bike I asked about, I was met with "we usually discuss pricing after we get in the finance office" I just turned around and left, didn't even say another word. The salesman literally followed me out the door trying to change his tune, but I was done. Are all HD dealerships this way? I feel better about buying from an individual with cash anyway, but I won't ever step back into that place again.
Buy a different manufacturer, Harleys aren't worth the headache. My friend has a 2014 Iron 883 and he got caught in the rain and his right-side handlebar switch quit working and it's been at southern devil HD for 9 months because the switches are discontinued and out of stock worldwide. So now he has a bike he can no longer use. The service advisor explained to him that after a bike is 5 years old, HD quits making parts for a bike.

I found if you don't ride them you don't have to worry about it anymore ......
so did my B-I-L, Olympic game's played out and nobody stole his, so he left it somewhere and he went out and bought a Harley he still has his also .......... me in Daytona a few moons ago looking at a paint scheme.

My old roommate had one of those Kaw H1 500cc three cylinder two-strokes. Fast, but...
Thing ran so rich, if you rode behind him you'd be covered in little oil droplets.
We always made him ride at the back of the pack, which really pissed him off.
