I don’t know how that would be such a terrible bad option, but I haven’t heard anything about that. It’s not Tribal land or anything. Lots of housing suddenly stalled, around my quite little corner of Down Town Lavonia.

Last time I stopped by on the way to see the grandparents in SC it's been built up quite a bit at the interstate, just doesn't appear they've done much beyond that. Did notice the "new" 17 on the way to Martin and Toccoa ended up cutting through my former home's backyard. Highway is basically at the pool and fence when there used to be nothing but land and a barn behind there. Glad I wasn't there for that destruction.

SC used to have a field day with the state line casinos and could make a killing. Would be great for GA revenue wise but get why people don't want that in their backyards either.

The legislature voted it down in April, but it will come back around next year. There are various interests who want to bring legalized gaming to GA. Apparently, there's a developer who has bought up property in Lavonia, and is pushing for a casino site opportunity.

I think tribal casinos are generally a good thing. Casinos not linked to tribal lands are much easier targets for traditional infiltration methods by organized crime.
