I haven't really seen it on the ODT, but yesterday I went to Academy sports in Cumming and every common caliber had been swept clean from the shelves. The guys behind the counter said they are selling guns like hotcakes and the Ammo section stays so empty it might as well become the shoe department. The only defensive/hunting 5.56/.223 that was left was some absurdly expensive mk318mod0 ($21.99 for 20). I reached out to inspect the rounds and someone nabbed it before me and bought it almost immediately.

the Walmart near me in Atlanta sells out of .223, 9mm, and .45 so often I have to time my purchases of .45ACP(the one round I didn't stock up on early and then suddenly have a love affair with).

So were we all just prepared and the rest of the gun population wasn't? or is this buying the norm and just any given weekend in GA?

Yeah I think the hype is perpetuated by ammo makers and gun stores as much as it is by the media. It only benefits them to create the hype as ammo is hoarded up, demand increases and prices go up = more revenue. It's brilliant.

I went to Academy in Cumming early yesterday. Found most selections were quite low. Four people waiting at the counter to look at guns.

Really? I went to two Walmarts in Marietta and Woodstock yesterday and they were fully stocked on everything. They even had Federal 100 packs of .223 for 34.99. Which are now sold out at the Marietta one, the one on Kennesaw still has about 7.

I reload... soooo there is plenty of supplies for me! muahahahhahahahahaa

but yes, I am stocking up, not because of obama... but because I loaded over 500 rounds this weekend and it ate through my rifle powder and bullets quick!

today I am buying 8lbs of varget, 1000 plated .45 RN, 1000 large rifle primers, 1000 small pistol primers, a few hundred more .308 brass, and a hand full of other things.

I'm constantly shooting and thus purchasing ammo so its nothing new to me.
I'd say the fear-buying has been going on though for quite some time but it probably will escalate in the coming months and after election, regardless of which loser gets appointed president.

yeah my wally world yesterday off barrett pkwy was slapped ful of all common calibers.. tula, wolf, federal, pmc, remington... 9mm, 40, 380, 25, 45, 308, 30-06, as in FULL case of ammo

terrible prices comparitively, but they had it. I dont know why federal FMJ is more expensive than WWB now... but what evs
