Healing 4 Heroes is partnering with Belk during their Fall Charity Day Sale.

If you purchase a $5 ticket, 100 percent of the proceeds go to the charitable organization. I'm selling tickets for Healing 4 Heroes (H4H) which
pairs shelter dog rescues with veterans with PTSD, psychiatric or other ailments that would benefit from the use of a service dog. H4H provides the dogs, training for the veterans and dogs and certifies them to meet ADA requirements. H4H educates the veterans on how to train their dog to perform tasks that meet their particular needs. Tasks include: waking a veteran from a nightmare, retrieving meds, turning on lights, posting behind the veteran in lines (bathroom), blocking while the veteran is shopping, bracing to help a veteran stand and most importantly how to recognize and calm veterans experiencing a panic or anxiety attack.

The ticket gets you or your spouse into the private sale at any Belk's from 0600 to 1000 hours (6 am to 10 am for those who weren't in the Army or Marines) on Saturday, 8 November. You get $5 off your first purchase and 20 to 70 percent off rarely discounted items. If you want to meet personally, I'll be selling tickets at the Town Center Belk every day for a few hours. Many other organizations are selling tickets, so regardless of who you buy a ticket from you helping someone.

If you want to help Healing 4 Heroes, buy a ticket from me. PM me, we'll work out the details and I'll get one or more tickets to you in the mail. I'll cover the postage.

Another attempted fundraiser on ODT and zero response. On the positive side, Scout and I were able to raise $580 working at Belk the last two weeks. Tomorrow the Belk Charity Sale kicks off and we'll be there selling tickets from 10 - 12 am. We get a percentage of tomorrow's total ticket sales. Hope it'll be a good day.

Most poignant memory from last week was when I met a guy pushing his three year old in a stroller with his wife. They stopped to talk, wife got the daughter out to pet on Scout. They bought a ticket and we got to talking. I thanked them for helping and asked the young man if he'd served; he had that look. He pulled up his left pants leg, showed me his prosthetic leg and said "Army". We looked each other in the eyes. The seen and unseen wounds. He said he was good. I thanked him and his wife for their service.

It was a profound moment; and not the first I've encountered while doing this. Its a labor of love. God Bless.
