Hearing protection for kids

My 8 year old is getting interested in shooting Steel Challenge with me and he’s not fond of over-ear muffs with his Ruger 10/22.

Looking for options on in-ear reusable ear protection that’s suitable sizing for kids.

Custom molded ear protection offer the best protection.
The problem is youth often misplace them. 💸

There are several brands of slim fit or youth fit foam with 32 to 35 db noise reduction at the big box stores or Amazon.
The key to using these is to show them how to roll them into narrow cylinders then place into the ear canal and allow them to expand for proper noise reduction.

The ones with a cord seem like a good idea, but if shooting a rifle or shotgun, the cord often snags on the stock and pulls the earplug from the ear.

Try to find the type with the string between them, that way you can safety pin it to the back of the collar. Saved me many times with my kids.
