Hello to all my deer rifle enthusiasts…

Get a Barrett 50 and be done, just make sure you can separate fur/bone from the instant ground beef....er deer. What were you shooting at, again?

I’m on a quest to consolidate calibers.

Understandable, but for a quality deer rifle you already own, which you use a box of ammo or less a year with, why bother? $100 worth of ammo is a five year supply. And if you truly enjoy that rifle, then make an exception for consolidation purposes.

Very good point! Hard to argue with that.

Sure, it's a good point. But where's the fun in that?

Seriously though, almost any cartridge will kill almost any whitetail under 150 or 200 yds. I would hold a couple rifles and see what fits. With the free floated barrels, threaded muzzles and MOA guarantees on so many rifles, it's really hard to go wrong. I have a .243 that shoots lights out with so little recoil, it's a pleasure to shoot. For as many different cartridges I have to choose from, that specific rifle is always the first one I take out to the blind every year.
