Help an ignorant person - how can I pistol discharge with a finger on the trigger? MP40 in particular.

Those spring kits for Glocks to lighten trigger pull. DON'T use them. Had a Glock fall out of a shoulder holster hit the ground (concrete) on it's grip with that spring setup.

3 guesses what happened.

WOW. When you said that, I thought no!! And that was before the dropped it. I thought about accurizing mine. Well at least no trigger mods. I'd had Glock do it anyway

Crazy part was I started to reach for it and something said get the **** out of the way so I did and it shot straight up in the air. Close one. My dumb ass saved again.

I'm clumsy. Every gun I've ever carried for a significant length of time in my life I have dropped. My most used carry guns have been dropped many times, almost always over concrete or asphalt.
Nothing's ever gone BAnG!

It was the trigger mod I put in it. It lightened the trigger pull to the point you could breath on it and it would fire.

If you know how a glock trigger works to lighten the pull you basically put in a stronger spring that pulls against the striker.

How badly did you mangle that poor Glock?

Dang, you had to Bypass the trigger flippy safety thing, had to lighten the trigger block spring (or did you remove the block?), the disconnector spring had to be super light, AND had to be unfortunate enough that the impact jarred the firing pin enough to hit the primer hard enough to fire.

I think it's more likely that someone at the ammunition plant made a round with nitroglycerine in that round instead of powder.

Seriously, that's Bypassing a lot of safeties.
