Help an ignorant person - how can I pistol discharge with a finger on the trigger? MP40 in particular.

OP orginally called his gun "S&W M&P chambered in .40". The EZ series with the grip safety doesn't come in caliber .40 S&W.

I was replying to your post where you said without specification to caliber.
M&P pistols do not have palm safeties, or grip safeties, etc.
Your post states that M&P pistols do not have grip safeties etc.

Yes, I have one of those without the thumb safety. I tailored my response to OP's reference to .40 S&W, which would have only come in the M&P Full Size and M&P Compact, not in M&P EZ. You nailed me on a techincality and I acknowledge your internet greatness.

Bow in humbleness. :boink:

Treat all guns like they are a Sig P320
After failing to follow commonsense and proper fire arm handling, I put a round through my desk drawer (oak), missed my backup SSD drive, but I'll post a picture of the hole in the SSD case, through the bottom of the drawer where the round lodged in the oak at the base of the desk - YEP. I was casual and careless. Cleared the mag and forgot to rack the pistol to clear anything chambered.

To follow this up, and I truly appreciate the feedback and links, my goal is to go past the owner's manual and truly understand. Wealth of information here and is much appreciated.

Since no one has pointed it out, I guess I will.
Is the title supposed to be "finger not on the trigger"?
Cause I can tell you how it can fire with a finger on the trigger.
:boink:
no finger on the trigger. The OP (me) is interested in a fly over of safety mechanisms. The discussion has moved on..... just clarifying. Honestly with full admission, anyone buying a firearm should be intimately familiar with the safety mechanisms of said firearm. Period. I plead guilty, so hence the post. I have work to do after I get through my MILs funeral and burial.

Going to schedule several FA safety and usage classes after I get through the current **** storm.
