Hello All,

I am new to collecting guns. I have 4 rifles and 1 pistol. I plan to slow down at this point (hopefully). I figure it's about time to get a decent gun safe. I want to get a 10-14 gun safe. I live on a second story apartment and plan to move at least 2 more times. So it would be nice to have one not too heavy. A local safe store has Steal Brand gun safes for scratch and dent prices. I can get a 16 gun safe for $417, but it's kind of big and it's about 350ibs. Does anyone have experience with Walmart and Academy's Stack on 10 gun safe? Does anyone have one of these smaller ones that you would recomend?

I would get the heaviest safe you can get in your price range and bolt it to the floor. I thinner made jobs have no fire resistance and would be easy to break into if a thief wanted to make off with your goods. I got a nice one at Adventure Outdoors but it was a grand and weights 700 pounds. My first safe was a Walmart job and it was a sale item that usually cost 500 hundred and some change. I ended up paying 325 for it. When I replaced it I gave that one to my mother to keep her valuables and guns in. All in all it isn't a bad little safe. I am wanting to say it was a stack on. Go to Adventure Outdoors and look around they have a great selection and if you catch them during a sale you can get a good safe for a not a lot of money. Oh and they will deliver the safe if need be.
