Help, From a lawyer.........

Just go to court and tell the judge , you were served on Sat to be in court Mon and you need a continuance to in order to find an attorney....but DEFINITELY show up for court....Judges get really pissed if you no show after it is on their calendar and they are ready.

Good thing she moved out. In most divorce cases the man has to move out and the woman gets the house. Thats probably whats she's going for.

If you cant find someone by Monday, go, and ask for a continuance like everyone else said. Just because she moved out and didnt have a place to stay shouldnt mean you have to jump through hoops on a Sat. Dont freak out, just go and be calm.

My divorce took 3 years and and times I had not place to stay, she'll find a place with friends, or someone else.

she is with a friend now, but the paperwork says she wants to move back in the house and have me pay all the bills for her till she gets ready to leave :mad2:she says she cant work because she is sick.

Crappy situation man. Not real sure about Savannah but when I got my divorce, we had to be "legally seperated" for 30 days prior to even being able to file.

As others have said, sounds like its been longer to her.

yeah, that sucks....you might be in a better situation since she left for 30 days. Not sure what GA law says.

whatever you do, dont threaten her, or change the locks, or do anything to give her an excuse to have a restraining order against you. That means loss of carry license.

dont email her, or call or anything.

The courts are full of lawyers, you will be in the halls with probably a half doz of them while you wait for your turn in front of the judge. You might find one there.

Hi Guys, I am really in trouble this morning and I need to speak with a divorce Lawyer. Does anybody know one that I can call and ask a few questions this morning. what happened was the wife moved out 2 weeks ago. I got off of work yesterday, got a hair cut, washed my truck, and when I get home I pulled around the corner and the sheriff was sitting in my driveway? he got out and asked to see my ID, then handed me divorce papers that said I have to be in court this Monday morning, 10:00 a.m. I know I need a lawyer, but how can I get one on a Saturday? Thanks in advance for the help. John

I have just texted a good friend of mine down there. Let you know what I get back.

Get the best attorney you can afford. Get all of your personal items that belong to you out of the house and lock them up in storage or with a friend. The rest depends on your situation. I had a buddy who was separated and he placed everything he had in his father's name. When she filed for divorce she couldn't get much because she wasn't married to his father.

If there are kids involved then look into the morality clause in GA. Another guy I know invoked that on his ex-wife during court and he was able to keep the house because she had planned to move the boyfriend in after their court date. When she found out she could not have the boyfriend stay over night she got mad and told him to keep the house.

Any accounts or credit cards in both names you need to watch out for? My ex-wife applied for cards I had no idea about until they came looking for their money. Get your credit reports and get an attorney.

Either way you go it's you against her and I hope you win!
