Help identify this...

My neighbor believes that someone shot a bullet at one of his windows. I asked him for a picture of the bullet. Here’s what he showed me. Honestly, I thought it was a casing because it is hollow, but it also looks like a projectile

It looks to be a 30 caliber rifle round - Possibly 3O-06 boat tail and I’m guessing it was a tracer round with the empty cavity

Regular rifle round. Hollow ends are common.

My opinion is that it is a malformed projectile. No room for argument's there.
