Help with pistol identification please

I just inherited this old S&W. I think it’s a 357 or a 38. Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like an old Hand Ejector. Won't be .357 Mag but could likely be a .32 S&W Long.

Smith guys will be along shortly but my best guess is S&W MODEL 38 HAND EJECTOR—Military & Police Model 1905, May 1905

Not a "Smith guy" but I do have one very similar in my collection. Not sure of the date of manufacture but I also have the "Pistol Toters License," dated January 16th, 1916, that was issued in Carroll County for this particular S&W .38 Military and Police Nickel 4" Square Butt...

Does it look functional-- can you dry fire it both single action and double action?

Is the "timing" still good?

Meaning, the cylinder stops turning and gets mechanically locked in place *before* the hammer is at full caulk in single action mode

or BEFORE the hammer drops if shooting in double action mode.

Yes, it is perfectly functional.
