Wow! You really went the long way around on that one. Oh well... You are most likely not going get my point about waiting further testing and first hand experience opinions. So it's just best to be done with this. They built their track record and reputation themselves.
A dude has a hi point you want . Great deal. But he's 4 hours away. He has 7 no shows to his name. You driving out there to save 75 bucks? Why or why not?
Your daughter comes home with a new boyfriend. He just got out jail. Serves time raping a couple people. He was a minor, so light sentence, and he came out a "changed man." You support it? Why or why not?
It's nov 3rd. On the fence about who you want to vote for. Let's say, for ease, that your primary deciding factor is how illegal immigration is handled, and more specifically, the lack of enforcement. The politician has historically voted down immigration controls, supported voting rights for illegals, voted for funding of sanctuary cities. They suddenly declare that they are anti-illegal immigration amd will have a no tolerance agenda if elected. You buying it? Why or why not?
Track record and reputation are important. And the company creates it and has a responsibility in the creation and maintenance of said reputation. Im not the problem for not giving them chance after chance. It's highly, highly, highly unlikely that a company makes a very sudden change for the better. It's ingrained into their guiding principles, their culture, their business model. Their identity.
passing judgment based on the brand is the whole point of this threadOkay well let's consider that the assembly line building the ARs is completely different than their previous product lines. Hell it may not even be in the same location. So it's not like you're gonna get Zamac parts in the ARs. So my point is that if they're in spec and the QC is at least as good as PSA Del Ton Anderson etc then how bad can they really be?
Don't get me wrong I don't need or even want another AR. They've gotten kinda boring. But I'm just saying that the AR production line is most likely far away from the Yeet Cannon and 995 lines. And it's probably comparable to pretty much any other budget AR. Hell I would even bet their QC is better than Bear Creek.
I just feel like it's at least worth waiting for some testing reviews or torture test videos before passing judgment strictly based on the brand name.
I believe you're right on that one. And what's in a brand name anymore?passing judgment based on the brand is the whole point of this thread
So my takeaway from your comment is that Hi Point will probably suck equally as bad as the other budget tier brands . Well as long as it doesn't suck worse...Pretty big difference between manufacturing a blowback operated pistol and carbine, and manufacturing a much more complicated Direct Gas Impingement firearm. Gas port sizes, buffer weights and springs, etc. I haven't seen one of the low tier AR companies yet that can source a halfway decent BCG consistently, and that's the heart of the entire system.

You make some great points here, no doubt.I believe you're right on that one. And what's in a brand name anymore?
Let me see... How many times has Colt went bankrupt? I had a Series 80 1911 in the 90s. What was any better about it than a Thompson/Auto Ordnance or even a damn Norinco? Was.it that gay ass Series 80 firing pin block they went with? How bout the ARs they made with different size pins than everyone else?
How bout Springfield? What do they do that's so damn hot? From what I can see they just import a.lot.of **** from around the world and stamp their name on it.
How bout Big Green? Seems like nobody wants a recent model 870 these days. So what happened to the QC at Remington? How bout that R51 retro pistol that was a complete disaster? I actually liked the looks of that one before I heard all about it. And believe me I will take a Mossberg 500/590 each time and everything over any 870.
And then there's Winchester. I wanted a 1300 Defender since I was a teenager. Too bad cause they don't make them anymore. Matta'fact they don't make ANY guns anymore. Turkish made shotguns with Winchester engraved on them. Same with the 22 rifles.
And I believe we know that Smith can be hit or miss depending on the model and date of manufacturing. I would expect hiccups and a lemon here and there from Kel Tec, Taurus and certainly Hi Point. So what is the excuse for the big legacy brands?
Lifetime warranties for sure bring peace of mind, but, unfortunately, a turd can still be a turd.Well they have lifetime warranty so they must have faith in them. Doesn't mean I would go out and buy one. I am thinking Delta team Tactical level of build quality or Bear Creek Arsenal. If they make it through this slow sales period maybe we will get some reviews. I have several of the carbines 10 mil, 40 cal and 45 acp and didn't have any issues but for everyone I have owned I have of heard of 10 with issues. Well will see but I'm not expecting much.
