The Mrs. has asked me for some things she might could buy me for Christmas. I was considering a high end flashlight, but I don't know much about them. Fancy to me is a AA battery mini-mag flashlight.

Swung by Going Gear yesterday to get some ideas. Kinda narrowed it down to either an Olight S20 or an Olight M18 Maverick. The M18 seemed to have an easy UI. I also saw some EagleTac lights that I liked.

So, what do you guys carry or recommend? I'm trying not to make a $70 mistake and pick a crummy light from the many choices that are out there.

I have been more than happy with my Four Sevens Quark Pro QPL for a while now, I know GoingGear carries them.

I can give you a lot of tips! But lets start off with what do you want the flash light for what scenarios do you see yourself using this?
are you mounting it for a weapon or just carrying the flashlight in hand? Are you trying to have a light that can illuminate your yard or are you trying to spot coyote
are you wanting it to be a tactical piece to blind people?

You can not go wrong with any Streamlight or SureFire.
This is one of the Streamlights I have, and it really isn't practical for me, especially with the price tag.

Trying to look at anything within 10ft of you, it is so damn bright it reflects back and blinds you on full power. Then if I try and use the 600 lumens to look across a field, it doesn't compete with other less power lights because you can't change the focus on the beam.

Never heard of Olight. I have a few Streamlights (Protac and polytac series) and they are good torches. I've had several no name ones that malfunction.
