"High End" Flashlights

streamlight or surefire for the smaller, "Tactical" style flashlights for sure.

for general use, cant go wrong with a mag-light. and the new LED ones are awesome.

Sorry, I should have been more specific.

The light will be for general use, not mounted on a firearm or for a tactical application. It'll be in my truck mostly, with the ability to slide it in a pocket and carry it comfortably. I'd kinda like the best of both worlds as far as brightness and throw, but brightness would be my first concern. The 2 battery CR123A size/class of light were the ones that I was primarily looking at.

Really just stepping up from the 'D' sized old flashlights and AA battery mini lights of yesterday to a more modern design with the latest bulb/battery technology. Looking for alot of powerful light in a small to medium unit.

Just fyi my Olights have been hit or miss. One, with limited use, just finally crapped out on me after a few years, and it was out of warranty. The other, less than a year old, had to be sent back for warranty repair. I also have an Inforce in for warranty/repair at the moment.

As others have said, I'd look at Surefire or Streamlight.

I know that Streamlight and surefire are great flash lights but ive been carrying a teralux 300 and have several of them great lights i use daily and great price at about 40$

Make the trip to GoingGear in Smyrna (http://goinggear.com), they have a huge display of various makes and models to test.

You've already been to Going Gear and that's honestly the best thing you can do. Put your hands on them and let them know what you're looking for and they'll put you right on the perfect light. If you can, head back to Going Gear and check out the following:

  • Fenix PD35 2014 Edition
  • Eagletac D25LC2
  • Olight S20 & S20R
  • Sunwayman C21C

Try the Nitecore SRT3. Adjustable beam from .01 lumens to 550 lumens with a RCR 123. Plus you can add a body extender and use AA battery.
