Hog Hunting on a WMA during Turkey Season, which ammo can be used?

If you have a carry permit, you can carry a sidearm. I'm so glad they changed the law regarding hunting and carrying. I was never comfortable bow hunting/turkey hunting without a side arm. Hogs have been known to gore people. I know people that have been gored and want no part of it.

This is true, however, I don't think the sidearm can be carried with the intent to hunt with.

"Intent" is why they banned carrying in the first place. If you are walking around with a shotgun and a sidearm, I doubt anyone will ask about your "intent." They might question you skill/ability to hunt turkeys, but no one said you have to be good at it. ;)

I wouldn't run around with a scoped 10" 357mag draped across my chest, but yes, as GeauxLSU stated, as long as you have your carry license.

I was thinking something more like this...

Best bet is the muzzleloader or bow......I do think a turkey load out of a shotgun would only anger a hog!

I took my brother turkey hunting last year and he nailed a nice sow with #4 3 1/2in turkey load, although it did take 2 shots.

Now as far as shooting a slug from a shotgun while turkey hunting-just remember that you have a very restrictive choke inserted! Could be very interesting seeing your barrel or gun head down range after your hog!
