Hogs?

Any WMA's or public land around your area you can hunt so you are not relying on others schedules? Some of the locals in my area go out to Ft Stewart and hunt them. You have to register your gun with them to take it on base, from what I understand. Never done it myself, but believe that is the only down side to it. Just a possible option for ya.
To hunt hog on public land, doesn't something HAVE to be in season, and if small game season, you have to be using a small game caliber, and if using a bow, small game broad heads?

Legal Weapon for the animal in open season on WMA is correct.
Know what weapon is legal for each animal in season so you don’t mess up and get in trouble with DNR.
Right now there’s nothing in season Until August 15 or until the WMA in particular that you choose to hunt opens the season. Some may have different regs and dates, so read carefully.
During small game season you can use regular broadheads as you would for deer, muzzleloader, rimfire rifles or shotgun with #2 shot or smaller.
Yes, muzzleloader with conventional bullets are considered legal small game weapons. Would be my weapon of choice during small game if I’m targeting pigs.

Yessir!
Coyote season was just in may, and there was a window you could have hit, but now you have to wait till august to get in on wma lands and hunt.
Yup, muzzleloader, or I wven considered trying out a crossbow this year?
Also, I'm pretty sure that you can use an ar, if you use .223 rounds. Aren't the .223 caliber considered small game caliber for wma public land hunting?

Yes, make sure you look up all the rules and regs, you really do not wanna get in trouble, or hit with big ass fines, or have your gun or worse truck/property taken away.
Even if you think ah I can get away with it, they have really been cracking down hard on public land use even since covid hit.

.223 is not a WMA legal, small game caliber. Any centerfire rifle cartridge is considered a big game weapon.
It has to be a rimfire rifle cartridge to be legal small game.
Ahh ok cool, wasn't exactly sure on that.
I thought I read somewhere that they consider the .223 round a small game round because it's a .22 caliber bullet
