holster wear

I've used Birchwood Casey's Perma Blue to touch up shiny spots before with good results. But mostly on front sights... It is a dull finish compared to the kind of shiny Glock finish I'm used to.

But the gun I carry isn't pretty.

holster wear adds a story to the guns history imo.a gun that is carried all the time will get holster wear and that means that the gun works because if it didn't a person wouldn't carry it.

now a mint condition exterior is also nice for guns you want to show off at he range every once in while or at a meet-up or some such event

Good to know, so if I take it to Glock they will refinish it
4-6weeks minimum turn around time. it was PAINFUL to wait.
the finish the do is not the glossy black, but literally just a coating over your current finish, which if some of your finish is worn, will show through.
all and all, I was displeased both with the turn around time and the quality. the price was the only good part.
Ill pay a little more and have someone local cerakote next time. Then ill have it custom to me, and not have to wait a lifetime for my firearm to return.

Well knowing that I will just have it cerakoted, thanks for letting me know that!

I'd highly recommend a local cerakote specialist. The cost is affordable, the turnaround time is acceptable and cerakote is pretty darn durable.

In the end, if you carry the gun and shoot it it's going to have wear on it.

If you really want to prevent wear look into the coating Dan Wesson is using on their 1911's. The DW CCO I had looked un-carried after 6 months of EDC in a Kydex/leather holster. That coating process actually bonds into the metal. Pretty awesome stuff. Far superior to the Armor Tuff coating on my Wilson Combat.

Great, do you have anyone you would recommend around here? I see you are in Acworth like me.

I heard that Glock will refinish it for you, and I also heard they do a crappy job....don't know this for a fact just what I heard.
Can anyone confirm or deny?
