Check for ants gumming up the electronics of the outdoor unit, really.
Happened to us last week, it was the coil covered in crap causing it to freeze up, still blowed but slowly and not as cold. They cleaned coil and it's better than new
40 years ago a friend of mine bought USED huge Sears chest freezer.
10 years later that freezer stopped working. He called the appliance repair man, and the "expert" said the motor needed to be rebuilt for several hundred dollars.
Instead I suggested to my friend that we troubleshoot it. We had both taken an HVAC class at a local technical college and electricity was the first thing they taught .
Well, one of the first things we tried was to replace the capacitor, because it was a capacitor start motor. He went down to an electric supply shop, bought a Sprague capacitor in the right size, for four dollars, and the machine has been running great since then-- 30 years since the repair !

Yep check start up capacitor. Will be on outside unit. Air handler unit blowing air but compressor not starting up
