Stupid question time. Redoing some insulation in our attic that squirrels destroyed. This is in a walk in attic where the walls are the interior room. It’s currently installed paper facing against the interior drywall. From my understanding it should be installed paper barrier facing out into the open space. Is that correct for GA code? I know I can stuff it back but this is 30+year old nasty stuff.

I'm pretty sure paper out is northern or mountainous climates. Paper to the wall is hotter climates.
Are you in the mountains?

You could spray-adhesive glue that stuff right back up there too and call it good. Might save a buck!

I’m in Monroe, near Athens. I could glue it but I’d rather replace while I can as it’s nasty from the squirrels over the years before we purchased.
It belongs to you so you can do it however you like but in my experience, it’s always been paper to the inside of the room

Yeah, you should be paper inside. Wear a mask too, you only get one pair of lungs and fiberglass doesn't degrade and get swept out like some other junk you breathe in does.
Did you get the squirrel hole boarded up?

Spray adhesive, duct tape, or some kind of strapping and then put 1/2" foam board over it. Seal/glue top and bottom and caulk seams. Foam board will hold in place but with sealing it creates a air barrier more than anything.
