Honda Fob programming after 3rd party alarm removal

I have an '03 Honda CR-V with a 3rd party alarm installed. Purchased used and didn't get the Honda fobs with it. The 3rd party fobs can be spotty, so I'm considering pulling the alarm out and picking up some ebay OEM Honda fobs.

My question is, can I just pull the alarm board, and reprogram some OEM fobs, or was the factory system neutered by installing the alarm? Will I need a dealer to program the fobs?

Anyone with experience in this arena? Much appreciated.

Almost guaranteed this will be something that has to be done at the dealer.

The codes of up to three transmitters can be stored into the keyless receiver unit memory. (If a fourth code is stored, the code that was programmed first will be erased.)
NOTE: It is important to maintain the time limits between the steps. Make sure the doors and the tailgate are closed.
Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Within 1 to 4 seconds, push the transmitter lock or unlock button.
Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.
Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Within 1 to 4 seconds, push the transmitter lock or unlock button.
Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.
Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Within 1 to 4 seconds, push the transmitter lock or unlock button.
Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.
Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Within 1 to 4 seconds, push the transmitter lock or unlock button.
Confirm you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators. Within 1 to 4 seconds, push the transmitter lock or unlock button again.
Within 10 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock buttons on the two additional transmitters. Confirm that you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each transmitter code is stored.
Turn the ignition switch OFF, and remove the key.
Confirm proper operation of the transmitters.
Most aftermarket alarms are wired into the ignition system and you can simply unhook all the added junk.

I’ve removed aftermarket alarms. Mostly junk be sure to reconnect wires cut into for the aftermarket alarm
