We have just started catfishing using noodles and as a family are having a lot of fun. We went to riverbend just south of Columbus yesterday. Our trip was cut short but we still caught 3 nice cats. What I don’t understand is two were hooked in the tail just behind the last rear fin. What can cause this? We are using noodles, twine, weight and circle hook. We did have several that danced but got away with the bait. What can we do to make Thursdays trip better?

For a better Thursday set your chicken livers out on the counter now. They will attract more catfish and you will be gladder to get out of the house.

I just checked with my purchasing agent (wife) and she said we are using #6 hooks. Maybe our hooks are too big. That would explain the stripped hooks. I just don’t understand how two out of three were hooked just behind the last top fin near the tail

Yes a 6/0. We actually grabbed some 2/0’yesterday. Wondering if we were missing some smaller cats because our hook size.
Also grabbed strawberry jello to see if they like it over cherry kool aid. We are enjoying the learning process
