No..... lack of morals and Respect for others is why this country is going down the tubes! if you don,t stand for something you WILL fall for anything.

When I was stationed in Jacksonville, FL my downstairs neighbor had lost his leg. Every other week we would go shoot pool, he would hop around the table on one leg and beat anyone that wanted to challenge him. He had very few friends because all they saw was his disability, he joked about the lose of his leg all the time, and if you couldn't joke with him you were not a friend. I got the honor of being his friend when he mentioned his prostetic cost an arm and a leg. I asked when they were coming for the arm. He laughed about it for the rest of the night. Point is, people have a choice to see a joke as a joke, or not. I can see getting upset if it is mean spirited or out of spite, however if it is not, lighten up.

I worked with a guy in Chicago many many years ago that had lost both his legs just above the knee when he was 13 years old. He was trying to jump on a train in the train yard along with several of his teenage buddies. He had two prostetectic legs and walked with the help of a cane. You would never know that he was walking on
prostetetic legs. I remember one winter day he and i were walkng from the train station down town to our job at the phone company...there was a bout 6 inches of
good old Chicago Slush at the curbs of every corner. He was standing in the slush...his shoes completely covered in it, when this lady who was also waiting for the light
asked him if his feet werren't cold. He looked at here straight faced and took his cane and rapped one of his fake legs and said "they're frozen stiff". I about fell out right there. He never let his handicap slow him down in life at all.

I used to help make prostetetic legs and feet, and not one of them every joked about it. people put on a fake smile to hide hurt all the time. does not take away the pain they feel inside.

Van, at the time they are probably going through the early stages of grief, and no it is not a fun time, however they have a choice to move on with life, or seek pity for the rest of it. I respect those that move on with life, instead of those that seek pity all the time.
