I have a Remington 700 in 308 with a 26 inch barrel with 1/10 twist. I'm looking for a load for the Hornady 155gr ELD-M using Varget powder. Anyone have a favorite load.

I would start at 10% under max & work towards it. Straight from the Hornady app.

I have heard of loading the 178s for a shorter barrel & staying near the book charges with accurate results.

My notes indicate that I had good results with 46.0 Varget and the 155 AMAX. As I recall, 46 Varget and a 150/155 is a popular 308 load.

I typically load them with as long a COL as the gun’s magazine and chamber will allow.

Hornadys data is so anemic. Anyways, do a load work up. Use a chronograph. You can have a solid load in 50 rds. Real question is are you going to load to book max OAL, mag OAL or you gonna single feed? I have an old load with the 155 max from nearly a decade ago that did well in my 20 inch AAC SD but was mag feeding with the binder plate removed so I had a lot more room for powder.
