Hotel check-in times

The policy depends on the hotel brand and the occupancy from the night before. Many places will waive early check-in fees based on how many guests checked out before 12 PM, leaving bigger availability. The earlier guests depart, the quicker housekeeping can prepare the room, allowing the front desk to reassign it sooner. The fee is mainly to discourage early arrivals, like people showing up at 9 or 10 AM hoping for a room. It’s the same reason they charge a "late checkout fee"—it helps minimize stays past noon reducing the time housekeeping has between 12 PM and 4 PM to clean the room.

Personally, I avoid "full-service" hotels. They charge for everything: taxes, resort fees, Wi-Fi, parking, and even a $40 breakfast. Instead, I opt for extended stays, where everything’s included. Some even offer a light dinner with beer and wine on weekdays!

I have Diamond status with HILTON and Diamond Elite with IHG. Early check-ins, late check outs, free upgrades, no fee cancellations (day of reservation) etc. It pays to get set up with a loyalty account.
Exactly, and I've learned to look at Hilton mail.......sometimes it isn't junk mail. Twice I've been given 100k points just out of the blue. I'm on my 13th years of Diamond status.

Lost track of how many years I've had it but I do know that I currently have a little over 800k points, lol. I have four crews on the road year around and I buy all of the rooms...points add up pretty fast.

What pisses me off is how the top tier hotels screw you for everything. Gotta pay for wifi (which really isn't an issue anymore but still) no microwave in the room but a real fancy room service menu with prices that they should be ashamed of. When we stayed at the Westin Peachtree back in November 23 I forget what it cost to park but it was insane. Only good part was that our excellent waiter at the Sundial validated my parking which saved me about half. Dinner was about $160.00 and I didn't even drink. So I left $200.00 because I felt like the guy earned at least that much.
Meanwhile...if you get out of the downtown area pretty much anywhere but especially Atlanta you can find a dozen different brands of motels with free wifi microwave, fridge and pretty much everything you need IN THE ROOM .
But yeah check in and check out times are an insane ripoff. So I can't check IN until after 4:00 but you want me out by noon? Try telling me that with a straight face.
