Wal-mart prolly has some good deals on tents.

Sleep in your car in the parking lot. There are all kind of creatures living feral in Wal-Mart parking lots.

When I rent a hotel room it's by the hour, don't need any extra's but I pay $10.00 extra for clean sheets

Back when I travelled I had status with Delta and Marriott.

Funded my 10th wedding anniversary to Czech Republic and Austria through points and miles. Those were the days...it was a trip we wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise.

It depends upon chain and ststus (if you stay frequently.)

Hilton and Marriott treat me well most of the time, most that is.

I am Lifetime Diamond with Hilton (gone way too much for a long time)

But I have made a reservation say for a Saturday night but not arrive until Sunday AM at 8 to ensure that I have a bed (red eyes to South America.)

You need to be a reward member to get those perks for free at the more expensive hotels.
More moderately priced hotels often offer these for no added charge.

Musta been one of those top-of-the-line hotels (Hilton, Marriot, etc.).
All their lower tier places have all that free, and (usually) charge less for the room.
I've never understood the need to stay in a place with marble foyers and crystal chandeliers. For the honor of paying more.
