LOL! I always thought it was rather have a sister in a whorehouse than a brother on a Honda!........I ride a Yamaha, Hahaha!

both my high school age daughters are in (airforce) JROTC. whenever they have their uniform on in public, they get alot of "thank you for your service".

Just so you dont think I'm BS'ing about the jarhead brother. Here is a picture from I think 1998. The Old Salt on the right is my Dad. He will be 80 this week. At one time he was the oldest Ensign in the Navy. He had to get waivers to stay in. He put 28 years in active with 10 inactive for 38 years service. Mustang as a Machinery Repairman E9 then finally retired as Lt Cdr. The old B&W is Myself sister , brother and Dad aboard the USS Gearing in 1970 when I made 1st Class MT(SS)

Sorry didnt mean to highjack just proud of that old salt and yeah even that jarhead....
We had two seals on the boat kept them chained up in AMR1 fed them a fish every now & then

How come...everybody I`ve met lately,in a gun store,Walmart,in the woods, where ever, proceeds,in the first 5 minutes,to let me know that they`re totin` a pistol, and then whip it out and show it to me?In some cases, point it at me.I let`em talk on,listen politely, then leave. They never know if I`m carrying or not.I don`t tell them. They just want the world to know that they are.How come.....Same people want to tell me that they were in the military(if they were) and just how dangerous and macho their job was?All this in the first five minutes.Hats off to the military,I`m not bashing.I gave `em 20 yrs.,just don`t say much about it until I really get to know someone. How come......Every Marine I meet was a scout-sniper?Come on guys.I`d like to hear some of ya`ll`s "How comes".

"Everybody" does this? If so then I'd say that you're putting off some kind of vibe that leads "everybody" to think that they need to show you their gun or share their war story with you.

While not everybody does this to me but I've seen a few. Usually those types are either fresh recruits in the military or they havent served at all. I've never had anyone just out of the blue "Excuse me sir. I noticed you walking across the parking lot...Check out my gun!". There's always a reason for the conversation.

I was never in the service. I would like to thank everyone that was for their service. I know a lot of people that were in the Armed Forces and the ones that are close friends you have to pry any information about their service from them. They are humble, great people. And most folks I know that carry will never offer to show you what they have on them or at home. I like the "don't ask don't tell". What some crook don't know might hurt them one day.
