How Dangerous Is Fentanyl You Ask?

It is hard to imagine the guy not wearing gloves. Even back in the '80s while in the Coast Guard we wore gloves when handling drugs. Even weed. That in itself makes me believe this video was staged. Either that or the FTO was not doing his job.
He could have had a habit hisself and honked too much while they had their back turned :yuck::confused:

This video is reportedly staged. They interviewed Doctors that said the fentanyl doesn't work that quickly.

There are also fentanyl variants, some slightly weaker, some significantly stronger. One in particular, Carfentanil, is estimated at 10,000x stronger than morphine. Carfentanil was first synthesized in the 70's as a general anaesthetic for very large animals. It is roughly 100x stronger than run of the mill fentanyl. Measurable effect on humans at dosage as low as 1 microgram.

You're welcome, stay safe!

Ladies and Gents, I use IV Fentanyl every single day at work if I administer a general anesthetic. If this video is legit Freshly Minted Georgian! Freshly Minted Georgian! would be correct in hypothesizing a Fentanyl derivative, most likely carfentanyl. Long ago I saw the famous video of some doc in the eastern bloc (IIRC) dipping his finger in a vial of powdered carfentanyl and then placing said finger in a horse's nostril. The horse dropped almost immediately.

Fentanyl is 100x as potent as morphine, hence we give it in micrograms, not milligrams. Sufentanyl is 10x more potent than fentanyl. And the derivatives get stronger. During the Moscow Opera House incident (early 2000s) it was hypothesized that the Russians pumped aerosolized carfentanil into the theatre. Unfortunately, they computed the dose for healthy men. Dehydration, malnutrition and stress of several days left many of the hostages in much worse shape than intended. Added that the Russians didn't think ahead about transporting almost dead people to a hospital and the death count soared.

I won't disparage the officers in this video, but they need a better press advisor. Fentanyl wouldn't / shouldn't / probably couldn't do this.

I saw a video of someone talking about this. He made the comparison of having a handful of salt or a handful of sugar. Your sodium levels or blood sugar aren’t going to spike because you have it in your hand. He compared it to having fentanyl in your hand, same thing. I don’t know enough about it to say which side is more accurate but that’s a reasonable theory to me. Regardless I still won’t handle any of that crap without some sort of PPE
