I don't hunt. I think the word "hunt" is misused by most people. Killing a deer with a 30.06 and a scope from 100 yards away is not hunting. Neither is sitting in a tree stand till something walks by, or relying on "feeders" to attract your game. I think traditional archers are actually "hunting". They have to rely on tracking, moving quietly, and getting in close. When I lived in Miami I went with some friends who hunted wild boar in the Everglades using only hand guns. I think that qualifies because of the challenge of killing something that's trying to kill you, and hitting a moving target with a pistol. Thats hunting. What passes as hunting for a lot of people, I think of more as playing a video game.

I bet you sit in a tree with a home made spear like Rambo, don't you?

FWIW, traditional archers are emulating hunters of the past, who were taking advantage of the best technology available in their time. No different than modern hunters. I bet you money that a Cherokee hunter from the 1750's would have given his left nut for a scoped rifle and a tree stand. Get over yourself.

When I was as kid I did all the time but living in the city no so much and when I visit my Home town I'm out of state so it's quite expensive. I'd like to go hog hunting.

It's not expensive and unfortunately a processed deer will only yield about 30-45 pounds of meat. If you get a bunch of jerky made, a lot less. There's a LOT of different things to hunt in Georgia. Heck we have a grouse season!

Good point on the freezer space- and I think I'd enjoy the jerky more than trying to convince the wife and kids to try venison. I'll take you up on that offer this fall.

Count me as one who used to hunt but no longer does. It's mainly due to time and lack of good places to hunt anymore. I used to have access to a good bit of land(250 acres) owned by a family member, but he passed away and the land got sold and turned into a subdivision. It was only 20 minutes from me too.
