I could never kill a animal that was not trying to kill me. i love all Gods animals.
How would you like to be walking in the woods and BAM somebody shoots you for no reason?
You a vegan Van? If not that last burger didn't die of old age brother. :) Absolutely respect anyone's opinion that doesn't hunt but if it's because you perceive it as 'cruel', well don't ever visit a slaughter house. Heck I don't eat veal because of that. :p I wish all the meat I eat was free range hormone free like that which I hunt.
Van, remember 'dominion'. Here you go brother. http://www.openbible.info/topics/hunting
And hope you don't view any of that as you 'catching hell'. :)

Don't hunt and don't fish. I don't have any kind of opposition to these activities, they just don't interest me personally. If I had to hunt or fish to eat, I would do it no problem but my interest in guns has always centered around tactical, defensive, and competitive firearms. As far as fishing, if I'm out in a boat I'm wakeboarding or wakesurfing, not drowning bait. :D

I dont hunt but I am definitely not against it. I am in favor of preserving such activities. I come from a family of hunters, going back many generations. Its a tradition that runs deeply in our republic as well. I do like to fish but really only enjoy the action of ocean fishing and dont get to do that much anymore.

This thread kind of freaks me out. I wonder how many of those that don't hunt have a bug out bag at home? If crap hit the fan and the infrastructure failed to get those steaks to your local grocery store how exactly would you provide for your family or yourself? I don't think hunting is just something you can walk into. It takes time to hone the skills necessary to be successful at it. In addition, the skill of preserving your meat is not a read it and do it process; it takes trial and error. I do understand that small game hunting takes the level of difficulty down somewhat (Squirrels and some birds.). However, the ability to bring down deer, turkey, and other big game yields a lot more meat, and in turn ups the chances of survival. If everyone is only hunting the small game they'll become scarce fairly quickly. I'm not really trying to cause an argument; just shed some light on why some of us hunt.

I can hunt. I can hunt very well. Have been hunting many times, for the same reason people have fire drills, as practice. To hone the skills I hope to never need.

I just have zero interest in it as a hobby or for recreation.

By that logic, shooting is not a sport. The poor old paper targets and sporting clays never see it coming.

The bowling pins never are even told that they are "playing". The "definition" is quite limited though there was passion exuded with the pronouncement of the perspective from the poster. There I go being a "redneck" again, oops, the dogs under the porch got in a fight again when I tossed out that pot of old boiled okra in the dirt.....ROFL
