That's a Woodcock, not a Snipe.

I always get a chuckle when I hear this. I used to do a lot of snipe hunting growing up. As in actual snipe hunting. You just 'think' you're a good wing shot and/or stalker until you try and do that in a harvested field with not even topo change for cover.

My neighbor hunts a lot, he gave me two sealed bags of deer from his hunt. I mixed it into some chili and it tasted pretty good. Very lean.

Nope. They do look very similar though. A woodcock's body is little 'squattier' and the bill a little shorter. First thing I ever got mounted was a woodcock. They also live in very different habitats (woodock will be in soft ground in upldands areas where snipe are marshy areas).

That is a woodcock, you don't know what the hell you are talking about.
A snipe is small, about the size of a dove and dark in color. The woodcock is closer to the size of a quail, such as the one you have in your picture.
