How many kWh do you use in the summer?

And what is the square footage of your house?
Who is your electric company?

Seems like every summer Georgia Power increases their rates. This month’s bill is just a few dollars short of $600 for a 1500 sq. ft. house. We had our AC serviced and recharged, loose fill insulation installed in the attic. All to try and combat these wildly inappropriate power bills. Our AC runs at max 5 hours a day and we’ve resorted to 80 degrees and the bill just goes higher and higher. I shouldn’t be paying $600 to live like I’m in a ******* terrarium.

Have no choice because Georgia Power is the monopoly in the area.

After complaining to the Public Service Commision I’m now seeing the line items that on top of their per kWh charge, there’s an additional daily charge, fuel charge and apparently I’m paying per kWh to build their nuclear plant? If those ****ing charges were removed, my bill would be around $250. THEY HIDE THESE LINE ITEMS ON YOUR BILL BY DEFAULT. You literally have to complain to have them reveal what they are actually charging you for.

This is just me ranting, because although we can afford $600 per month, we definitely don’t want to be paying for fuel? and to build a nuclear facility? to a company that I’m sure has record profits and will never pass the savings on to its customers once these facilities go online.

**** Georgia Power and **** their stupid commercials that say “we are working hard to bring clean AFFORDABLE energy to Georgia.” Straight up lies.

GA Power sucks ass. Idk how may kWh we use but ours is around $300 for a 20 year old 2 story house with **** insulation.

Yeah ours is a single level (basement isn’t vented). And is 1500 sq. ft. There should be absolutely no reason for our bill to be this high. The only additional appliance we run that may be out of the norm is a small dehumidifier in the basement.

I’m curious if I cut my main breaker if that damn gauge will keep spinning. I wouldn’t put it past them to somehow fudge actual usage.

My house is bigger and my bill is about half that. We’ve got Jefferson Energy Coop though. Not sure on total usage but the AC is running more than it’s not this time of year. I suspect Georgia Power kinda sucks for pricing.

2 units, approximately 2700 sqft, set to 70° 24/7 and alarm monitoring

Dekalb county, about 3500 SF climate controlled. Thermostat set to 70. It’s like an ice box, but that’s my wife doing. Bill is $500-$700 from Ga. Power throughout summer.
