How often do you reach for your nightstand gun?

I did for only the second time in a decade about ten minutes ago. I think I've been watching too much Netflix.

I was outside putting up a new security screen in the van windows and I heard something that made my blood run cold. I mean ice cold. I'm not easily spooked, have hunted and camped since I was a little guy. I heard a gutteral, hacking wretching sound like I have never before. It was about 75 yards away if I had to guess. Three times. Like some creature in a movie. I went in to retrieve my pistol with thermal sight but couldn't make out any heat signatures that wouldn't normally be there.

I am a little freaked out and that's unusual for me.

What things/sounds/events make you reach for your night guns?

Cat knocking stuff off the counter in the kitchen in the middle of the night lol

Just fire 3 rounds at the noise and it usually stops.If not empty the mag. if he in dere he aint happy

That would’ve been enough to make any man cry….loudly, I am sure !!

As far as “reaching for my nightstand gun” …… I say once a week at least I wipe it down, rotate ammo and work the action then put it back within the arms reach for me and the MRS.
Same goes for the others that are carefully positioned in the house for emergency purposes.
