How often do you reach for your nightstand gun?

I did for only the second time in a decade about ten minutes ago. I think I've been watching too much Netflix.

I am a little freaked out and that's unusual for me.

What things/sounds/events make you reach for your night guns?

Similar frequency.
Something kept making noise in the kitchen in the middle of the night about a week ago. I grabbed my handgun and flashlight and cleared the house with an attitude. Not because I was mad somebody broke in, I was mad they woke me up.
Never found out what it was. Never got back to sleep either. Still mad.

As far as freaky sounds, I live in the Hill country of Texas now. Shortly after moving here an Axis deer roared in the middle of the night not far outside our bedroom window. It was the first time I had ever heard it. THAT will get you going....

I'm hoping you aren't admonished for using " nightstand gun " like I was. However, any knock at a door after 9 pm or the dogs barking in the middle of the night does it for me. It's what happens, right ?

Wait till you here a mountain lion..........Or a rattlesnake in the washroom.......Or a coyote blood curdling screams as they catch something on a creek bottom in the middle of a pitch dark night. And you're in a tent.......And what about bears.........

Wherever you need to reach for it counts. When we lived in Darien I had an old FIE 32 auto in the bathroom and an RG 38 Special on top of the fridge.
